Building a Legacy, One generation at a time.
At Wolf Mountain Farm, our Valais Blacknose breed-up program began in early 2023 with a simple vision: to build something exceptional from the ground up.
-
Wolf Mountain Farm began with a vision to build something exceptional from the ground up. What started as a passion for the Valais Blacknose breed quickly grew into a commitment to developing a breeding program centered on quality, integrity, and continual improvement. Today, our family works together to raise exceptional Valais Blacknose sheep and Central Asian Shepherd Dogs while building a legacy that will last for generations.
-
Every breeding decision is made with the future in mind. We prioritize sound structure, temperament, health, functionality, and long-term genetic consistency in both our sheep and dogs. Our goal is not to produce the greatest number of animals, but to produce animals that make a meaningful contribution to the breed and the farms and families they join.
-
We enjoy working with breeders, homesteaders, livestock producers, and families who share our appreciation for quality animals and responsible stewardship. Whether you’re looking to strengthen an existing breeding program, start your own flock, or add a well-bred livestock guardian or companion to your farm or home, we are committed to helping place our animals in homes where they can thrive.
Our Vision
What started as a dream has grown into a carefully developed breeding program focused on producing high-quality Valais Blacknose sheep that are not only beautiful to look at but capable of making a lasting impact on breeding programs across the country. Every breeding decision is made with the future in mind—prioritizing conformation, wool quality, markings, structure, temperament, and long-term genetic consistency as we continue working toward the Swiss standard.
Wolf Mountain Farm is a small family operation primarily run by me, alongside my husband and our three young children. This farm is more than a business to us—it’s a way of life. Our children are growing up alongside the animals, learning responsibility, stewardship, and the value of hard work while helping care for the sheep that are helping shape our program’s future.
Our commitment to excellence extends beyond our sheep. Along the way, we learned about the Central Asian Shepherd Dog, also known as Alabai. They joined the farm and became an equally important part. Protecting and watching over the flock as our livestock guardian dogs. We hold our dogs to the same high standards as our sheep, striving to produce and maintain animals with exceptional temperament, sound structure, working ability, and the stability needed to thrive both as guardians and family companions. Our admiration for the breed eventually led us to welcome another Central Asian Shepherd into our home as a companion, where she continues to demonstrate the same loyalty, confidence, and steady temperament that first drew us to the breed.
We were drawn to the Valais Blacknose breed because of its unmatched combination of beauty, personality, and presence. As our passion for the breed grew, so did our vision. What began with a handful of sheep quickly evolved into a long-term commitment to building a program centered around quality, integrity, and continual improvement.
As our experience with the breed grew, so did our desire to help preserve and promote the qualities we value most. Today, we maintain a small, carefully planned breeding program, producing only a limited number of litters as our time, resources, and standards allow. Our focus remains on quality over quantity, with every breeding thoughtfully selected to produce stable temperaments, sound structure, and dogs capable of excelling as both livestock guardians and devoted companions.
Above all, our goal is simple: to raise the bar.
We believe exceptional animals begin with exceptional care. From nutrition and health management to daily handling and enrichment, we are committed to providing an environment where our sheep and dogs can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We believe that quality matters. We believe that careful selection matters. We believe that the animals we produce should contribute something meaningful to the future of the breed and to the farms and homes they join. Our work is guided by our Christian faith and our belief that we are called to care well for the animals, land, and opportunities entrusted to us.
Every lamb and every puppy born at Wolf Mountain Farm is an opportunity to raise the bar. Behind each one are years of planning, investment, evaluation, and commitment to continual improvement. With every generation, we strive to move closer to the standard we’ve set for our sheep, our dogs and the future of our program.
This is not a program built for shortcuts or quick success. It is a program built on consistency, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Because we’re not simply raising animals…
We’re building a legacy of excellence, one generation at a time.
How We Got Here
While our Valais Blacknose program began in 2023, our journey in livestock started years earlier. Wolf Mountain Farm was established in 2019, beginning with Kunekune pigs and later Babydoll Southdown sheep. Those early experiences helped shape our understanding of animal husbandry, breeding, and stewardship while teaching us what qualities mattered most in a livestock program.
Over time, we discovered that the Valais Blacknose sheep embodied everything we were looking for—exceptional breed character, striking appearance, sound structure, and engaging personalities. Today, they serve as the cornerstone of our sheep program and remain our primary focus as we continue working toward excellence in the breed. As our farm grows, we are also expanding into Dorper sheep for meat production and future youth livestock opportunities, while maintaining the same commitment to quality and thoughtful breeding that guides every part of Wolf Mountain Farm.
